10 AM to 11:15 AM Dave Kiphuth- The Golden Ladder Learn the 3 repeating patterns in G-tuning which open a complete understanding of the neck. This is a bluegrass tutorial, but old time players will benefit greatly.
11:30 AM to 12:45 PM Susan Trump- Double C and Double Thumbs (Clawhammer Basics then Spiff it Up) We'll learn a few tunes in Double C tuning then add some licks and double thumbs.
1 PM to 2:15 PM Bob Altschuler- Music Theory Fundamentals For Banjo Using hands-on techniques, Bob will show theory basics for bluegrass banjo & demystify the framework of your music. Practical tools for expanding solos, backup, and improvisation.
2:30 to 3:45 PM Jane Rothfield- Take it to the next level Clawhammer Banjo There is more than just one way to play a tune! Improve your playing by ear (we will not use TAB) and play more than the basics by adding in chords, rhythmic and melodic variations to your playing!
4 PM to 5:15 PM Gordon Stone- Composing and Improvising on the 5-string Banjo, 3 Finger Gordon will demonstrate how to: 1. Play over bluegrass and blues progressions, 2. Combine Scruggs and melodic styles, 3. Improve articulation, & 4. Increase speed.
