Costume Party with Phoebe Legere
Phoebe Legere, legendary singer-songwriter, to host benefit for arts education. Dress in costume and be entered in a raffle to win 2 tickets to an upcoming show at The Living Room!

All proceeds from this show go to Legere's nonprofit Foundation for New American Art, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that brings art and music to the children of low-income communities.

Multi-instrumentalist, vocal wizard and super keyboard phenomenon Phoebe Legere has been called "The World's Greatest Entertainer." Phoebe, who has starred in movies and been on NPR five times, is known as a "musician's musician." Phoebe is a Vassar girl and a Juilliard-trained pianist. She is also part Native American, part Cajun, and part Mayflower descendant. Phoebe is a walker between worlds. "Our family has been here a long time and we are part of the American story. It is an honor and privilege to perform in Ardmore, in the great state of Pennsylvania. I love American history. This is sacred ground."

Known for her 4-octave voice, dazzling virtuosity and songwriting, Phoebe Legere plays many instruments and brings an infectious joy to her performances. She has played with some of the most creative personalities of our time: David Bowie, Billy Joel, Steve Martin and Joni Mitchell, as well as symphony orchestras like the Cleveland Chamber Orchestra and the Boston Symphony.

Her original song "Marilyn Monroe" was a hit on college alternative radio, but she also plays classic jazz and blues with a such originality and passion that New York Times to wrote: "Phoebe Legere plays the piano with enormous authority in a style that encompasses Chopin, blues, ragtime, bebop and beyond, and she brings to her vocal delivery a four-and-a-half octave range, and an extraordinary palette of tonal color and meticulous phrasing."

When Phoebe plays the Cajun accordion the crowd goes wild. "Cajun music tickles people under their toes. They can't stay still. They just have to dance."

This is a rare opportunity to hear a woman who has been called "A Cultural Treasure" by NPR, a genius by Interview Magazine and "the female Frank Zappa" by Billboard. She is a rollicking blues piano player, an award-winning Cajun accordion player, a folk blues guitar stylist, a powerhouse vocalist and a spellbinding storyteller of whom it has been said, "When you hear her sing you will feel as if you were struck by lightning. She has a spiritual power that cannot be described. Phoebe Legere brings more than entertainment to her live performances."

This is a rare opportunity to experience Phoebe Legere's intellectual, comedic and musical range in an intimate environment. "She brings an exquisite refinement to her playing and singing. Born on the 4th of July, Phoebe's repertoire is the heartbeat of America, from her wild and funky "The National Anthem of the Environment" (her re-write of the "Star Spangled Banner") to her singing of 11,000-year-old Abenaki canoe songs.
