Guava Rugelach Festival
As the region with the largest immigrant population in the United States, South Florida's Jewish community continues to flourish thanks to the influx of Jewish populations from around the globe. The Guava Rugelach Festival aims to showcase what it sounds like when Jews from different corners settle together under palm trees once again as in biblical Israel, but instead in a melting pot positioned along the Atlantic Ocean. Returning after an initial smashing success in its first year, The Guava Rugelach Festival is a music program featuring locally-based artists representing Miami Jewish Latin, Israeli, and Yiddishkeit communities. Music is showcased in six sets which will also include an improvisational jam, The Guava Jam, as a final act featuring all performers in the festival representing the culturally rich cholent that is Miami Jewish.
This years performers are:
Miami's (almost) All-Gal Klezmer Band, The Judettes Adam Gil, Israeli and Morrocan Trio Harmonic Motion (middle eastern Sephardic music) Susanna Behar, Ladino songs Alejandra Czarny, Yiddish songs Chassidic Jazz Project, Jazz rooted in Jewish liturgy
