Steel Hurtin's Training Yinz!

This is a roller derby training camp for skaters who have passed the WFTDA "minimum skills" assessment. Space is limited so that we may give each skater individualized attention.

*Yinz = yinzer** speak for "you guys," and the Steel Hurtin's official battle cry.

Trainer Bios:
Ally McKill: Epitomizing the phrase "small but mighty," Ally is current Captain of the Steel Hurtin' and an original Steel Hurtin' member. You can usually find her with that stripy hat on her head, directing people around in the pack. Ally's favorite cross-training activity is wrestling the packs of deer that roam through her yard. She also loves penguins and cats.

Athena: A self-proclaimed "Roller Derby Maniac," Athena is a past Captain of the Steel Hurtin' and another OG Hurtin'. Athena is famed and feared for her "butt to gut" blocking style it is advised to not have a full bladder when she's blocking you. When not sweeping you off your feet with a well-timed hit, Athena enjoys trolling forums, blogging, and responding in sartalics.

'snot rocket science: Current Co-Captain of the Steel Hurtin', 'snot is an OG Hurtin' and also a member of the inaugural Team USA roster. She is a veteran derby trainer, having worked with teams all over the world in her Team USA travels. In this agile and acrobatic jammer's spare time, she enjoys jazzercising to Justin Bieber songs, and hoarding.

Hard Times: Hard Times is a recent transfer from the infamous Oly Rollers. They tried to steal her back for the WFTDA Championships, but we said NO! We are joking of course, but if they'd had her they might have beaten Gotham (just a thought). Hard Times is a versatile blocker/jammer who enjoys sewing "YINZ" onto her pants.

Double Destroyer: Double D was a fearsome Hurtin' skater until an injury sidelined her this past season. Not one to just walk away from her favorite group of ladies, she threw her hat in for the coaching position and was elected for the 2013 season. She previously coached the SCRD's B-Unit and headed the league's Training and Skills Committee. Double D enjoys tweeting and cursing global warming, often at the same time. When she's away from derby, you can find her trying to sled in her backyard, with or without snow.

Of course, many of your other favorite Hurtin' skaters will be on hand to observe and offer feedback! Sign up today spaces are limited!

We are offering two sessions on the day, however, both will cover different skills, so definitely attend both if you can. Our rink has an afternoon open skate session in between (1-4), which you are welcome to stay for. You can also use this time to eat and/or explore our wonderful city! We will provide you with info, maps, and ideas.
