Dirck Toll Presents "Leveling Charges"

Innovative humorist Dirck Toll acts out hilariously twisted adventure stories, and in this special return performance he'll also be striking a hard stance to promote resource conservation and minimize energy use: The stage will be lit only with natural light, the only amplification will be Dirck's natural voice, and the set will be made of only salvaged and reused materials. As Dirck puts it, "Power corrupts, so we'll see if using less power will corrupt me any less."

Besides his previous sold-out shows here, Dirck has presented his unique hyperkinetic blend of theater, literature, performance art, and comedy at venues throughout the northeast, including Woodstock's Kleinert-James Arts Center, Dixon Place in New York City, and TT the Bear's Place in Boston.

The Albany Times Union says, "Calling Dirck Toll an underground Mark Twain might be a stretch, but not by much." And with a selection of mind-jolting tales that feature a shifty craftsman, an unhelpful assistant, a mystified upholsterer, and an aggressive bystander, it's clear that a show without electricity can still be electrifying.
