A supremely dreamy night of European pop music from long ago featuring Jonathan Greene on clarinet, the incomparable Sergei Nirenburg on accordion and vocals, Bobby Kendall on string bass, and Brian Mellick on percussion. Their electic repertoire of 1930-60's songs is drawn from film and radio archives from Russia to France, Italy, Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Israel, Mexico, Argentina and beyond.
This special program will feature many different strains of Jewish music from across the globe -- old and new, devotional and secular folks songs, traditional melodies, lullabies and ballads. Lyrics in Yiddish, Ladino, Hebrew, English, French and Russian.
