FALSTAFF AND SHAKESPEARE
We are proud to sponsor Verdi's Falstaff in conjunction with the celebration of the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death in 2016, because the opera is based on Shakespeare's The Merry Wives of Windsor and scenes from his Henry IV.
WHAT IS THE OPERA ABOUT
Falstaff, the title character is running out of money and looking for a quick fix. So he sets his sights on two rich women, and writes them love letters. But he doesn't fool anyone, and ultimately the "fat Knight" learns his lesson.
