Maine-born, Austin-based singer-songwriter Slaid Cleaves spins earthy ballads with a novelist's eye and a poet's heart. More than two decades into his career, the celebrated songwriter delivers vivid, cinematic lyrics on themes ranging from life's toughest moments, to Texas pride, to tongue in cheek numbers. His bittersweet melodies deliver equal measures of hope and resignation, effortlessly shading dark with light and wringing the most out of a melody.
