Nanne and Ankie hail from the Friesland province of the Netherlands. They befriend audiences around the world with zesty, life-affirming and often witty performances of maritime, folk and traditional songs, and new songs about peace, love and humorous events. Their vibrant musical partnership has spanned four decades and encompassed teen ventures into Beatles-inspired rock and roll, then Frisian folk rock, before settling in as a folk and traditional music duo. These days their toolchest includes guitar, concertina, mandolin, and fluency in Dutch, Frisian, Esperanto and English. They have been well received by folk music fans in our region at Old Songs Festival, and in collaboration with the Henry Hudson and Half Moon project.
