Duwamish Journey with Johnny Moses-Opening and Artist Reception
1st gallery showing of the art of noted NW native storyteller Johnny Moses explores the traditional culture and spiritually of Chief Seattle's Duwamish. Show runs May thru August.

Johnny Moses is a master storyteller and respected spiritual leader who carries the medicine teachings of his Northwest Coast ancestors.  A Tulalip Native American born at Ohiat, a remote Nuu-chah-nulth (Nootka) village on the west coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Moses has a multi-tribal ancestry, which includes the Nuu-chah-nulth, Saanich, Snohomish, Duwamish, and Chehamus peoples.   Johnny traces Duwamish ancestry on both his mother's and father's side of the family.

He was raised in the traditional ways by his grandparents, and sent by his elders to share their teachings with all people. His traditional name Whis.stem.men.knee (Walking Medicine   Robe) carries the Si.Si.Wiss (sacred breath, sacred life) medicine teachings and healing ceremonies of his Northwest Coast people.

Fluent in eight Native languages, he is a traveling ambassador for Northwest Coast cultures sharing the knowledge and richness of his spiritual and cultural traditions with people across the United States and Canada.
