About Our Presenter:
Chad Smith is a former Examining Attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office and he has more than 16 years of experience working with large and boutique law firms. He has extensive experience in managing large U.S. and international trademark portfolios, and matters involving the protection, registration and enforcement of copyrights. He has successfully represented clients in domain name disputes and other adverse proceedings involving trademarks and copyrights and has represented numerous clients in matters before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (oppositions, cancellations, ex parte appeals).
Chad assists clients with all stages of securing trademark protection with an emphasis on the selection and enforcement of trademarks domestically and internationally. In addition, he works closely with clients in formulating worldwide trademark protection and registration strategies. Chad has been instrumental in developing intellectual property strategies for numerous start-up and entrepreneurial clients, several of whom have grown to million-dollar, international competitors. Chad's highly-personal, one-on-one approach to client relationships has led him to consistently meet and exceed his clients' goals.
In addition to his work at Ironmark Law Group, Chad is an adjunct professor at Seattle University School of Law and University of Washington School of Law where he teaches courses on trademark prosecution and practice. He also volunteers and has served on the board for Washington Lawyers for the Arts.
