A Nashville musician with a Midwestern upbringing, singer-songwriter Griffin House "spikes his pop-rock songwriting with a dose of rootsy, atmospheric Americana." (All Music) Inspired by Bruce Springsteen, Woody Guthrie, and the Mermaid Avenue albums by Wilco and Billy Bragg, House began songwriting in college. His mix of sentimental melodies, ambient guitars, and spare arrangements attracted attention from Nettwerk, a Vancouver-based record label. In August 2004, when House was featured on the CBS Sunday Morning show, music journalist Bill Flanagan (MTV/VH1) raved about House, putting him on his short list of the best emerging songwriters in the U.S. "I bought House's CD after a show in New York City," said Flanagan, "and this never happens: I took it home and must have listened to it 20 times that weekend. I was knocked out." Several self-released albums followed, including 2014's "Balls." House has toured extensively as an opening act for the Cranberries, Josh Ritter, John Mellencamp, Ron Sexsmith, and many more.
