18 Reasons is excited to host Zach Pace, local wine and spirits expert for a 4-part series exploring all the major wine regions of the world. The series will allow students to view the diverse world of wine through varietal expressions of terroir and style. Each class will include six wines.

Class Two (3/22): Don't Forget Merlot

Once among California's best selling and most popular varietals, Merlot seems to have fallen out of favor. This underestimated varietal, however, is poised for resurgence. Thought you knew Merlot? Come see for yourself and learn about classic wines from the old and new world.

Zach Pace, a Texas native, discovered his passion for wine while living and working in New Orleans. Hurricane Katrina compelled him to seek the sunny shores of California, where he currently resides as a wine & spirits expert specializing in education, consulting, and restaurant operations. He is an Associate Instructor for the Wine & Spirit Education Trust and is studying for the WSET Diploma. When hes not obsessing over food and wine he enjoys traveling, reading history, photography, and Star Wars.
