Bantamba! The Whole Village Dances
In Villages of West Africa, the people come together at the Bantamba to celebrate. They celebrate through dance, which most say is the gateway to life. Whether for male or female rites of passage, weddings, a birth or the transition of an elder, the village all comes together at the Bantamba.
"Bantamba" is a word from Mandinque, a language spoken in West Africa and useful in the south of Senegal. Bantamba means "a tree where one palavers," which, in certain African cultures, Refers to a meeting place where people can communicate, where they can listen to each other, where they can settle conflicts and where they can discuss important matters.
Take a trip along with Keur Khaleyi African Dance Company to the mother continent of all of humanity to celebrate life to the fullest in Bantamba!! Experience the celebration of the whole village on stage!
