"MISGUIDED SPECS"
Ask any construction specifier what their opinion is of manufacturers' guide specifications and you'll probably get an earful. Manufacturers know their products very well, but when it comes to preparing guide specifications for their products, they know way too much about their products. The information in a manufacturer's product data sheet is not necessarily the same things you'll find in a construction specification.
The premise of manufacturer guide specifications is to make it easier for specifiers to specify their products. However, many guide specifications are poorly written that the specifier either has to heavily modify the specification or start completely from scratch using the guide specification only as a tool.
Using actual examples of manufacturer guide specifications found online, this presentation identifies 10 errors commonly found in manufacturer-prepared guide specifications. Using specification writing principles in CSI's "Construction Specifications Practice Guide," this course describes what the error is and how it can be corrected. The presentation ends with a list of recommendations that should be considered by manufacturers before they take on the challenge or writing their own product specifications.

WALK-INS accepted at the door on a "space available" basis. However, only cash or check payments will be accepted at the door (no credit cards).
CANCELLATIONS: Refunds will only be given for cancellations received before noon on Monday, May 20th.
NO SHOWS: Payments for no-shows will be retained in full.
