Burlesque 303 Advanced Performance Laboratory
4-week series with Waxie Moon and Elsa Von Schmaltz
Offered Wednesday evenings, beginning June 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th
6 - 9pm
Cost: $300
This is a 4 week performance laboratory that offers a limited number of advanced participants the opportunity to refine a single act. The exercises will teach performers to craft existing acts to be predictably and crisply executed, festival-ready, and representative of the performer's character. This is a great way to make an iconic, signature act. At the conclusion of the lab, the performer will feel confident about performing this act in any setting. This class includes the opportunity to have the act filmed after the final class on the West Hall stage for posting to YouTube or submission to festivals. The cost for this add-on is $50, and you must decide if you want it by the 3rd class session. There is NO live performance component to this class.
Admission to this class is by application only.
There will be weekly homework assignments!
Prerequisites:
Video submission of complete act to be work-shopped in laboratory (does not have to be performance footage.
1 page statement of intent
Act and Character descriptions
Completion of Burlesque 202 and performance in at least one Alumni Show
OR
3 years active performance

You will receive the registration code upon approval.
Week 1: Clarifying your vision and intention through research and storyboarding
Exercise: Create Vision/StoryBoard
Lab: with brought materials and provided materials, create board.
Showing: present board, do act.
Week 2: Making deliberate physical choices
Exercise: Combing through act, working with video feedback
Lab: entrances, exits, movement choices
Showing: Specific details of the act
Week 3: Being compelling & understood
Exercise: Externalizing character
Lab: Stillness/Energy
Showing: Choreographing the face
Week 4: Ruthless Editing
Exercise: Distilling
Lab: pulling from the StoryBoard
Showing: complete act
