Finding Jackson: Sustaining Authenticity and Practice
Jackson Pollock had incredible energy as an artist, and was incredibly troubled as well. In his most productive times, his art making process was based on authentic self-expression. He was an abstract expressionist, after all. The idea of authenticity is paramount to the creative process. How does one stay authentic and true to their craft? We'll explore this burning question, and find ways to define-- very personally-- what authenticity means, and how to sustain a creative practice based on this premise.
No experience is necessary, nor must you identify as an artist. All that is required is a curiosity about what art might open up for you, and a willingness to experiment and be surprised at the wellsprings of your own creativity.
Workshop Facilitators:
Sibel Golden, Ph.D., LMHC is a psychotherapist and creativity consultant in private practice. For over 20 years, she has blended her background in the arts with her work as a therapist offering creative journal writing tools that deepen self-discovery, provide an opportunity for catharsis, and a channel for inspiration.
