Arduino 201: Servos & Motors

About the workshop

Servo motors allow you to move a something over a 360 degree range. They are great for moving things like robot arms and control surfaces on remote control planes. Stepper motors allow you to continuously turn their motor shaft. They work great when connected to wheels, belts, or pulleys.

Please come to the workshop with a basic understanding of the Arduino microcontroller (either from the Arduino 101 class or your own tinkering), and bring the Arduino kit from the 101 class (as listed above).

The workshop rate ($40) includes two servo motors and a stepper motor with driver board.

Peter Davenport, the class instructor, is a college student and member of FabLab Tacoma who has a passion for electronics and robotics. Peter is also the ringleader for the Tacoma Electronic Makers who meet at FabLab Tacoma every month. He has designed two Arduino add-on boards that are sold by SparkFun electronics.

Requirements:

Attended an Arduino 101 class or have previous experience with Arduino.
Beginners kit from 101 class.
(Arduino, Breadboard, Jumper-wires, Usb cable)
Laptop (Mac OS X or Windows. Linux if you're willing to work at it)
Please pre-load the developer environment from arduino.cc
(Some programming experience is helpful but not required)
