Complete Vocal Fitness: Three Ways to Boost Your Biomechanics
Your singing technique can only function as well as your instrument permits it to. Eliminate hidden muscular tensions and imbalances and liberate your artistry.
In this workshop series, I will show you how to apply principles of biomechanics, sports science and motor learning to assess and improve key components of your singing. Come learn how to develop the strength, freedom and coordination essential for success with any singing technique.
Participants should come prepared to sing a brief excerpt from their repertoire and wear clothing that permits free movement and full breathing. Workshops are limited to a maximum of 10 participants; auditors welcome.

Whatever your approach to breath management, your ability to apply it well requires good range of motion and skillful neuromuscular control where all facets of your breathing anatomy are concerned. This workshop will cover:
A discussion of the biomechanics of respiration
Techniques for identifying and releasing chronic tensions that limit breathing
Isolated exercises to build strength and stability in the major muscles involved in breath management
Integrative exercises to facilitate stable, consistent breath management while also meeting the demands of stage movement
LIBERATE YOUR LARYNX

Mastery of singing requires the ability to maintain a low laryngeal position, the skill to modulate registration seamlessly, and the capacity to navigate a broad pitch range. This workshop will cover:
A short, accessible discussion of laryngeal anatomy guaranteed not to make your head explode
Techniques for assessing and improving vocal range
Exercises for developing articulatory independence and coordination
EMANCIPATE YOUR ARTICULATORS

The jaw, tongue, and lips work together to create each sound you make in speech, creating habitual movement patterns that you continually reinforce every time you have a conversation. Optimal articulation for singing requires that you learn to move your articulators independently from one another in ways that will enhance, rather than impede, free phonation and full resonance. This workshop will cover:
A practical overview of articulator anatomy and function
Techniques for assessing and alleviating jaw and tongue tension
Exercises for developing articulatory independence and coordination
