After Last Call...or How To Make A Play In 24 Hours
At 7pm on Friday October 6th, we will gather and welcome 18 brave artists to the challenge we are about to take on. We will then split participants into four groups, each made up of a playwright, director, and two to four actors and send them off to a local Philadelphia home to make art. Each group will set up camp in a house donated to us for the night, with The Pharmacy (1300 S 18th Street) serving as After Last Call headquarters, where participants will report throughout the night for curveballs, coffee, and artistic shenanigans. At the end of it all, at 7pm on Saturday October 7th, well be presenting these plays to the public and donating all profits to Rainbow Railroad, an organization that helps LGBTQ individuals in places where they are an open target for violence. You may have heard about RR the most due to their efforts to help LGBTQ refugees from Chechnya, where Gay Concentration Camps currently exist. You can learn more about them by visiting their website at www.rainbowrailroad.ca Every ticket sold helps promote independent theatre, artist driven work, and of course benefits LGBTQ refugees all over the world by way of the Rainbow Railroad.
