LATIN JAZZ @ MONDO presents THE ALEXIS CUADRADO TRIO OF WORDS with acclaimed bassist Alexis Cuadrado & His Guest Music Artists in Concert
The popular monthly LATIN JAZZ @ MONDO music series brings to you a special concert event on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 8:00pm with award winning bassist Alexis Cuadrado & his Trio of Words, featuring Chilean jazz vocalist Claudia Acuña and award winning Chilean pianist & composer Pablo Vergara. Teatro Sí brings to you this cultural opportunity on stage at the unique & cozy MONDO venue, located at 426 Springfield Avenue in downtown Summit, NJ.

Alexis Cuadrado and his new trio present a set of music inspired by the poetic and folkloric traditions of Spain and Latin America. Drawn from such diverse sources as the surrealist poems of Federico Garcia Lorca or the moving protest songs of Víctor Jara, this trio explores the Hispanic diaspora with in an intimate setting that promises to enlighten your mind and stir your soul.

Barcelona-born and Brooklyn based bassist Alexis Cuadrado is an award winning composer, producer, and educator. His compositions show a unique voice that draws from the crossover of Jazz, Flamenco and New Music, exploring the confluence of the Spanish and American cultures. His output as a composer has peaked in recent years, premiering over a dozen commissioned works. He has published 6 albums of original work, composed multiple film scores and recently produced music for the public radio show "The New Yorker Radio Hour" which he recorded exclusively on double bass.

Vocalist Claudia Acuña frequented major Santiago, Chile jazz clubs as a performer, sitting in on sets with local musicians and meeting luminaries like Wynton Marsalis, Michel Petrucciani and Danilo Perez. In 1995, she moved to New York City to pursue her career with regular performing dates at renowned venues; Smalls, Sweet Basil, Zinc Bar, Metronome and others.
Claudia met acclaimed bassist Avishai Cohen, with whom she collaborated on a demo recording that earned Acuña a contract with Verve Records. Cohen also worked with her on her debut album The Wind From The South, released by the Verve label.

Producer, pianist and composer Pablo Vergara is an award-winning musician who has performed across four continents.
