The Atlanta Bourbon Society Bottle Release Party & Charity Event
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 24, 2017 FROM 3-6PM
The Atlanta Bourbon Society, American Spirit Works and Adam & Wendy Gajadharsingh cordially invite you to an incredible whiskey charity event to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Georgia. CF is a genetic disease that causes, among other things, extensive lung damage. The median survival age is 40 and there is no cure. It affects people we love so we decided to throw a big party to raise some money for the charity.
We have been working on this for about a year and the feature of the event is the release of an exclusive ABS barrel pick. ASW sourced a unique MGP bourbon that was distilled in early April 2015, with a mashbill of 51% corn, 45% wheat and 4% malted barley. What caught their eye initially was the high wheat content, which makes for a smoother bourbon. The new make was good enough hot off the still for them to buy 100 barrels. This bourbon formed the basis of their original Fiddler Bourbon release. In November 2015, ASWs head distiller (who's from Athens, GA) harvested 3 white American oak trees in Jackson County, Georgia, split out the heartwood, and seasoned it outdoors for a year before hand-charring the Georgia oak staves in the wood kiln on his farm to a char 4. He placed this hand-harvested Georgia Heartwood into some of the Fiddler barrels in spring of 2017.
Paul Preuss, Rob Scarborough, and Adam G. were visiting ASW one evening and got to sample some of the bourbon. We all loved it so much that we knew we had to have a custom barrel at CASK STRENGTH for ABS. So we arranged for a tasting panel of ABS members, including Paul and Rob, to sample several different barrels, each with different numbers of staves. The barrel they selected, Barrel 17-0034, has continued to mature ever since. A recent tasting further confirmed how amazing this bourbon is, and it will continue maturing with the Georgia Heartwood until shortly before the event, when the ASW team will harvest the bourbon, hand-bottle it, and release it at THIS event. At cask strength, the barrel will yield only around 235 bottles, so be sure to purchase your ticket soon to make sure you get one.
TICKETS
There are three types of tickets, the Party AND Bottle ticket, the Party but NO Bottle ticket and the Cannot Attend AND Bottle ticket.
The Party AND Bottle ticket gets you the following:
-Entrance to the party and a guided tour of the ASW Distillery so you can see where some of ASWs own distilled products are made like Resurgens, Atlantas first Rye since Prohibition
-FIVE drink tickets to sample the various ASW spirits
-A bottle of the exclusive ABS/ASW cask strength bourbon
-Delicious food from Legacy Ventures Restaurant Group (STATS, Twin Smokers BBQ, Der Biergarten and more), the perfect whiskey drinking snack, called Pork Clouds from our friend Brett Goodson (wait until you try these) and a decadent dessert from Sweet Cheats
-Live music from local artist Martin Wattenbarger
-Amazing auction items including a bitters package from 18.21 Bitters, beer and wine packages, restaurant gift cards from Le Fat, whiskey lamps, a package from CORE Buckhead and James Howard from Ball Ground Design Studio is creating a custom table from the actual barrel used to make the whiskey for the ABS bottles
-A large screen TV just in case you want to catch any football games
-After you crush the included drinks, there will be a cash bar to keep the party going and additional bottles of the special release will be available to make sure you whiskey bunker is fully stocked (by law, you can only leave with a total of 3 bottles of any of the spirits at ASW).
We realize that you may have friends, significant others, etc. who don't appreciate the sweet nectar of the gods that we call bourbon quite as much as we do but still like to have a good time so there is a Party but NO Bottle ticket option, which includes everything above except for the bottle of whiskey. Finally, if you CANNOT ATTEND BUT WANT A BOTTLE, there is a separate option for that and the bottle can be picked up at ASW up to one month after the event.
COST
Early Bird Tickets have sold out. Tickets are now $104 per person for "Party AND Bottle" tickets and $55 for "Party but NO Bottle tickets" until they run out so get your tickets now! The "Cannot Attend AND Bottle" ticket is $65.
*After expenses, all proceeds will be donated to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
TAX RECEIPTS
Ticket purchases are NOT eligible for a charitable tax donation receipt. However, all donations made on auction items at the event WILL be eligible for a tax receipt and 100% of the proceeds from the auction will be donated to the charity.
