Affaire of the Arts

The Affaire of the Arts offers spectators, art enthusiasts and collectors alike the unique opportunity to purchase paintings which they have observed the competition artists creating throughout the week. This one-night-only reception gives the public the opportunity to meet the artists, learn about their inspiration, and purchase paintings full of local color and subject matter.Artists will have spent the week creating paintings of the landscape, the people, the landmarks, the boats, and the endless beauty of Southern Maryland. Nowhere else in Calvert County will you find such adiverse and complete collection of works painted outdoors on location.The festive Affaire of the Arts includes a cash bar and beautifully catered hors doeuvres. All of the competition artists will be in attendance.

In 2016, the Affaire of the Arts moved from carmen's gallery to the Holiday Inn of Solomons. The new location allowed for more room, which in turn gave the festival the ability to accept more artists. Our move to the Holiday Inn was a big step up for SPAF, and will help us continue to grow in the coming years. We plan to use the beautiful conference center at the Holiday Inn again in 2017, with bigger rooms, and, as usual, exceptional catering from area restaurants.

Your purchase of paintings from the competition allows us to continue this event,support the artists, and contribute generously to charitable organizations throughout Calvert County.
