American Odyssey: True tales of hospitality, welcome and plunging into unchartered waters
Good Neighbor: Capitol Hill is teaming up with Story District to present a night of true stories by and about DC's diverse refugee population. The premier performance of American Odyssey: True tales about hospitality, homecomings & plunging into uncharted waters will take place at 7:00 PM on August 10, 2017 at Lutheran Church of the Reformation (212 East Capitol St. NE, Washington, D.C.).
ABOUT GOOD NEIGHBOR: CAPITOL HILL Good Neighbor: Capitol Hill is a group of Capitol Hill religious communities working together to welcome and support refugees to the greater DC area. They are trained by Lutheran Social Services of the National Capitol Area and assist the refugee families with housing, food, transportation and employment.
ABOUT STORY DISTRICT Story District's mission is to promote excellence and cultivate new talent in storytelling in the Washington, DC, area through its live performances, coaching, classes, and ongoing support of storytellers. By showcasing diverse perspectives and life experiences, our stories entertain, enrich an understanding of the world, promote compassion, and highlight our shared humanity.
Story District has been called the "gold standard" in storytelling by the Washington Post, and nominated for the 2012 DC Mayor's Arts Awards for Innovation in the Arts and again in 2016 for Excellence in the Arts.
