Politics and Prose Presents JEFFREY EUGENIDES
In his first-ever collection of short stories, Pulitzer Prize winner Jeffrey Eugenides combines brand-new themes with ideas from his beloved novels. The question of intersex identity that he explored in MIDDLESEX reappears in one story; in another, Mitchell, one of the protagonists of THE MARRIAGE PLOT, battles dysentery on a search for enlightenment. In other stories, an Indian-American teenager schemes her way out of an arranged marriage, a poet turns to white-collar crime, and a green-card marriage goes off the rails. Eugenides takes on his characters' predicaments with the humor and compassion hes known for, proving hes a master of the short form as well as the long.
Eugenides will be in conversation with Tope Folarin, a writer based in Washington D.C. His debut novel, THE PROXIMITY OF DISTANCE, is forthcoming from Simon & Schuster.
