Nourishment
Gwendolyn & Guests presents the 2nd iteration of the Nourishment series this fall 2017! Set in a 19th Century Carriage house in Brooklyn from September 21-23rd, 2017, the immersive show uses dance, live music, visual arts, food and drinks all centered around the core question: What does it feel like to grow up?

Nourishment is a series of immersive and site specific performances in locations around the country. It is an evening-length performance experience aimed at provoking all five senses using artistic mediums such as dance, live music, visual arts, storytelling, food, and drinks. The process and production involves interdisciplinary artists collaborating to create a performance based on a viscerally-charged question.

The first Nourishment production, 'What does it feel like to fall in love?', premiered to sold-out audiences at the Fleming Mansion in Denver, Colorado from April 1-3, 2016. Critics called it, "profoundly tender" and said that it was "more than a performance piece with live music, visual projection, and audience participation"(Presenting Denver).

For the past year we have been crafting our newest Nourishment production and this September it will premiere at Planta Baja, a 19th century carriage house in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, over the course of three nights. Based on the question 'What does it feel like to grow up?', the performance will incorporate live music, dance, theater, spoken word, visual arts as well as a sommelier and chef creating and serving an assortment of small dishes paired with wines-- all directly correlated to eliciting the feeling of growing up.

Nourishment pulls the the audience into a non-linear world of aging-- what it feels like to be a child, to take responsibility, to learn and explore, to feel disillusionment,  and to experience the joys and struggle of youth. We will ask you to re-live, re-imagine, re-wind, and re-learn what growing up really means to you-- what does it feel like, taste like, look like, sound like, and smell like.

In addition to the live performance experience, each audience member will be served a few small courses prepared by a local chef using predominantly local ingredients, alongside wine pairings to enrich the audience's full sensory experience.

Collaborating artists include: Anna Driftmier, Mara Driscoll, Nico Gonzales, Gwendolyn Gussman, Aja Jackson, Jack Koloskus, Jett Kelly, Carly Krulee, Patrick Needham, Trevor New, Collin Wagner, and Maleek Washington.
