Since 1999 LSL took dancing to another level by starting the trend in soulful house music boat parties after changing corporatiztion of club culture due to gentrification starting with the Mayor Gulliani who resturrected a sleeping law, the race based NY Cabaret Law created in the 1920s. The boat offered an environment for our lovely conscientious party people with a purpose to find optimum enjoyment socializing, dancing and enjoying a true diverse crowd unified by the music.
DJ Jeannie Hopper's Liquid Sound Lounge began as a radio show in 1993, Saturday's 7-10pm WBAI99.5fm with Co-host Steve Marshall and later joined by Reggie Johnson. Jay Rodriguez long player in the club scene from the seminal Giant Step parties leading to his co-founding the jam band Groove Collective, comprised of the musicians jamming along to the DJ's. Groove Collective influenced many bands in the 90's including The Roots, US3, and Tribe Called Quest. He played on Prince's cult classic Black Album. He has performed, produced recorded and or arranged for artists like Elvis Costello, Medeski, Martin and Wood, Roy Hargrove, Fred Wesley, Natalie Cole, Little Louie Vega, Dennis Ferrer, DJ Nickodemus, DJ Premiere, Bernie Worrell, Roy Hargrove, The Roots, The Mingus Big Band, Mongo Santamaria, Eddie Palmieri, Celia Cruz, Miles Davis, amongst many.
