Yoga for Every Body & Live Music!
... THIS IS A FREE CLASS ... FEAT. LIVE OUD MUSIC THERE IS LIMITED SPACE RSVP IS REQUIRED
WHAT? Open to all levels including true beginners to yoga, this free class will also feature live music. Structured around a simple set sequence of postures designed by Sri Dharma Mittra over his 50 years of dedicated practice, this class combines pranayama (breath) and static poses (asanas) giving students the opportunity to re-align and center in a supportive environment.
The Dharma-Inspired Yoga and Breathwork class will be taught by Simone Jacobson, who recently did her 200-hour yoga teacher training at Yoga District. Musician and biomedical engineer Huda Asfour will be transforming the space with her mastery of the oud, also known as the "king of instruments".
THE INSTRUCTOR: This class is taught by a former hip-hop dancer and current entrepreneur, Simone Jacobson, who discovered yoga after a traumatic injury during her healing process. Simone hopes to cultivate spaces where everyone feels empowered to breathe and move with freedom from the rigors of daily life.
THE MUSICIAN: Huda Asfour was born to Palestinian parents in Lebanon and grew up in Tunisia before moving to Gaza and then Ramallah. She studied music at Birzeit University and at the National Conservatory of Music under the supervision of the Palestinian musician Khaled Jubran. Outside of the U.S., she has performed in Egypt, Palestine, and Lebanon. One of a new generation of young Arab women singer-songwriters, her debut album "Mars (Back and Forth)" was released in 2008.
