Sans Limites Dance Spring Season 2017
From June 1st - June 4th at The Elliott Center's Hudson Guild Theater, enjoy the performance series that exhibits the work of contemporary emerging choreographers that contribute to the ever-evolving art form of Modern Dance.

Inspired by the Duncan quote, "You were once wild here, dont let them tame you", Sans Limites Dance produces movement artists that create both traditional dance pieces and works that are innovative, rebellious, and non-conformist.

See ART IN MOTION that highlight themes, culture and events of contemporary times through unique choreographic visions; ranging from highly technical/athletic to works daring in their simplicity.

PRESENTING...

Amanda Edwards (June 3rd @5PM)
Showcasing two pieces that incorporate spoken word; one entitled "Faith" and the other responding to the tragic Tamir Rice case.

Amirov Dance Theater (June 1st @8PM)
"Air-Ground-Air" deals with a woman's search for identity and home.

Annalee Traylor (June 3rd @5PM)
How the Quiet won follows journey of two characters on their paths towards reaching higher self.

Annamaria Diamant (June 3rd @8PM)
Her work is inspired by the Lucretius quote, 'On the Nature of Things'  No single thing abides; but all things flow...by degrees they melt, and are no more the things we know.

ASHA Dance Company (June 3rd @5PM)
"Women of the Revolution" is a piece dedicated to the women who have sacrificed their lives, livelihood and time throughout history to ensure that we, the women of today, are respected and valued -- the fight is still being fought.

Ashley Menestrina (June 3rd @8PM)
Her work strives to answer the question of "Who am I?" by realizing that self-esteem and self-respect manifest by being as true as possible to your inner most voice.

Bekah Howard (June 3rd @5PM)
This work tells the age old tale that we are only as good as the people we surround ourselves with.

Billy Blanken / SMDT (June 3rd @8PM)
Attributed to Mary Queen of Scots, this work investigates trust, betrayal, and political corruption. The piece is a reminder that the winners often write history, whether completely true or 'alternate.'

*Chandler Dance (June 2nd @8PM)
A work that explores the various personality layers we reveal both to our conscious selves and to others.

Corinne Shearer (June 3rd @8PM)
"Enlarged To Show Texture" is a study of passing time and interpersonal negotiations. It explores the profound, unacknowledged communication that flows between us with humor and multiple perspectives.

DiMauro Dance (June 3rd @8PM)
This piece explores the idea of control in a relationship. While technically rich and aesthetically crafted, it relies on the human desire to manipulate others physically and emotionally.

Elisabeth Archer (June 1st @8PM)
This is a work of games about the responsibility that comes with great freedom. We all expect certain rights as human beings, but those rights come with the responsibility to uphold the rights of others.

Gina Montalto (June 1st @8PM)
Her work focuses on the themes of memory and nostalgia and how they manifest themselves in our bodies. Dancers represent different recollections of the past, both personal and a collective of society's past, through movement phrase-work and partnering.

*Jeanine McCain (June 2nd @8PM)
Jeanine McCain and collaborators present Once Removed, a piece integrating live dance with dance for camera work on pop up projection surfaces.  In this piece, the dancers explore how our individual connection to a sense of place and the landscapes in which we exist have shaped who we are as humans and how we relate to the world.

Jihyun Kim (June 1st @8PM)
This piece is presenting phenomenon of fragmentation. It origins from the same status but it will show signs of division within the status and being drawn back to each other again, since it tends to keep a balanced phase.

Jillian Davis Dance Project (June 3rd @8PM)
Davis is presenting two solos; one of which displays someone grappling with trust and the other depicting a dancer fighting against the control the music has over her.

Koin & Co Dancers (June 3rd @5PM)
This work is about releasing your inner demons, and letting them take control over you, as you try to break away but get sucked back in every time.

*Beverly Lopez's REDi Dance (June 2nd @8PM)
Land of Concrete explores how we live/become ourselves in a "Culture of Hurry" and how it impacts our relationship with God, interactions with one another, and our mental/emotional stability? This ensemble production will give you a unique opportunity to consider how we determine self worth. It brings movement to the idea of "broken down machinery" in a capitalist society.

Sammy J Dance (June 1st @8PM)
RIVERS experiments with dancers flowing through, with and against music. The dancers will explore the bodies and the sounds forcing the audience to think and question movement and sound and how they interact.

Simon Lambert (June 3rd @8PM)
Inspired by his relationship with his little sister, choreographer Lambert creates a piece where the interaction of the dancers reflects their own experience about brotherhood.

Stefano Nappi (June 1st @8PM)
Falling in love with the music instantly, this work asks if it is possible to be love and be loved equally.
