Death of a Salesman
This Pulitzer Prize winning play is considered to be not only a great American classic, but Miller's masterpiece. In addition to the Pulitzer, it has won three Tony Awards, the New York Critics Circle Award, and two Drama Desk Awards. The play tells the story of Willie Loman, the quintessential American tragic hero, "a man out there in the blue, riding on a smile and a shoeshine," a man disintegrating into madness as he finds himself unable to cope with the failure of his dreams and his inability to face his own shortcomings.
