St. Georges Dance!!!

In 1989 if you headed out wearing your Docs and a punk band t-shirt, you probably weren't going to a high school dance or a dance at a community hall. That year, DJ Brad Howell dropped the needle on what became the center of the emerging Alternative youth culture in Guelph. The St. Georges dances brought together a diverse group from all the highschools in Guelph and the surrounding area. Everyone was welcome and you were free to experiment with new looks, new friends and ideas. Against the soundtracks of Ministry, Tones on Tails, The Cure and other alternative sounds of the 80's you bonded in the mosh pit and fell in love by the bridge. A St. Georges dance was an opportunity to take the risk of being yourself.

On Friday July 13, 2012 polish your boots and join DJ Brad Howell in Mitchell Hall behind St. George's Church to dance and reunite with friends to raise money for Wyndham House. Being a teen is hard enough, mental illness, addictions and abusive homes make it unbearable for some. Wyndham House makes a huge difference in the lives of youth but they need funding. The St. Georges dances have a history of helping people in need. Money was raised for the ANC before apartheid fell in South Africa and thousands of pounds of food were donated over the years to Sister Christine and The Guelph Drop In Centre. The St. Georges community made a difference in Guelph, let's do it again!
